As I type this I'm looking out from the deck attached to our room at the ocean - it's 10.10am in Mauritius and the temperature is looking to be anywhere from 22-28 degrees all day. It's this type of weather that sometimes you think you can get away with nipping out to grab a diet coke or some lunch without having to put suncream on - I can tell you now that's dumb. I should know because more often than I care to admit I've literally burnt the shit out of my back, shoulders, stomach, chest, nose, bum....you name it I've burnt the crap out of it.
That's why on my last shelf swipe before holiday I grabbed this Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration sun lotion. It protects against UVA and UVB rays and is water resistant.
Boasting 12hrs of moisturisation this lotion contains "hydrating ribbons" to ensure your skin is perfectly prepped before heading to the beach, pool or bar.
The hydrating ribbons come out clearly when the lotion is dispensed but the cream absorbs evenly into the skin.
I apply this all over my body very, very liberally. I am a whiter than white girl and it doesn't take much for me to catch too much sun so I douse myself in the cream before I leave the room.
Overall I really like this sun cream; it has a tropical scent (aka the #ScentOfSummer) and isn't sticky or greasy which makes it feel more like a body butter than a sun cream.
There's also a version of this for your face - this one is smaller and comes with a pump dispenser. It's oil free which is perfect as it's hard enough keeping the shine on the old forehead at bay without having to battle with greasy sun protection too!
I haven't tried this under make-up as I haven't been wearing any in the day time but it can be used underneath if necessary. It sinks into the skin very quickly without leaving a trace. There's sometimes still the classic error of rubbing my eye or putting it too close to my eyes giving me a bit of irritation but that's down to clumsiness not the cream.
Let me know if you've tried this new Silk Hydration range from Hawaiian Tropic - I wish I'd picked up the aftersun from the same range as I grabbed a huge body butter pot but I'd love to use the whole range!
This lotion comes in factors 10, 15, 30 and 50. Click here (!) to view online and here (!) to buy the sun lotion.
I haven't tried these products yet but I think the hydrating ribbons make them look so pretty.
