Valentine's Glossybox

I'm sure anyone with a Glossybox subscription was eagerly awaiting the arrive of the second limited edition Glossybox. Mine arrived on Monday and I legged it up to my room to check everything out.

I received Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner, Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream & Extra Firming Night Cream, Murad Skin Perfecting Primer and Fab Body Moisturiser.

I'm quite impressed with this month's products, but the perk for me is the the bright pink box! Like many other Glossybox subscribers I use my boxes for storing bits and pieces in my room so this one will go brilliantly in what I consider my Pink Palace!

I have mini-reviews of each product here and a separate, lengthier post for the Eyeko eyeliner to follow.

RRP: £46.50 / 50ml & £48 / 50ml

Firstly, Clarins Extra Firming Day Cream : I like this product a lot, however prior to this I have used Clarins products that I've liked much more. The moisturiser felt good upon application and my skin felt nourished. It's worked all day which I'm impressed with as I had a day of university lectures and then spent some time in town where it was very cold and windy, usually that results in some dry patches.

Clarins Extra Firming Night Cream : The night cream felt soft on my skin but left it feeling slightly powdery.. the same as when Benefit's Pore-Fessional primer is applied if you've ever used that? That was slightly strange for me though I did appreciate the softness over greasy-ness. After another application tonight I found if I rubbed my face it rubbed off the moisturiser and I was getting it on my hands in little balls, not ideal!
Overall I'd give both of these a 3/5 score. I like them, but I like other products more which I'm likely to purchase.

RRP: £10.00 / 226.8g

FAB Body Moisturiser : I used this post-shower this morning and it sank into the skin quickly. It felt nourishing and didn't leave any greasy residue. I don't have much to say other than it had a strange scent to it that wasn't quite to my liking, almost musty/masculine smelling. I probably wouldn't buy this product again purely because I have a huge stock of body butter hanging around!

RRP: £29.00 / 30ml
Murad Skin Perfecting Primer : I haven't managed to use this yet! After using the Clarins moisturiser this morning I completely forgot about this.

RRP: £9.50
Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner : I have a post coming up about this but here's a hint..... 5/5!

A cute little extra, mmmm!

Overall, this box probably gets a 3/5 this month. If I were to have put together a "Valentine's" Box it would have probably included something like lip scrub/gloss/stick, nail polish, eyeshadow, mascara, exfoliator, shower scrub, bubble bath etc etc etc. I feel as though these products are all along the scale of "good, but could have been better".

Glossybox is £10 / month + P&P (£2.95) Click here to start your subscription.

Did you get this month's box? Do you love it or loathe it?? Let me know!

In October I loved....

Lipsy Coat, Clarins Daily Energizer Cream, Mac 123 Brush, Pink With A Splash by Victoria's Secret in Sweet & Flirty,
Ted Baker iPad Case, Diorskin Nude in 020, No7 Lift & Luminate in Porcelain 03, Bobbi Brown Face Blender,
HD Brows Palette in Vamp, Benefit Dallas Bronzer and my Hello Kitty hot water bottle

Since we're in the first week of November now I'm running a little late, but I wanted to do my first "things I loved" post! These are my favourite bits and pieces from October....

1. My Lipsy coat. It's so snuggly warm and paired with a scarf it keeps me covered from the cold on my walk to uni.

2. Clarins moisturiser from their Daily Energizer range. I use the face wash and the toner a couple of times a week but the moisturiser was perfect for every day before applying my make-up. It was called a cream but did have a slightly gel-like consistency. I was recommended it by the lady on the counter in my local Debenhams over the actual moisturising gel alternative because my skin isn't dry or greasy, a nice inbetween. It's quite thick and a little definitely goes a long way but it was perfect for me! The pot is sadly empty now but I'll be buying a new one asap!

3. Mac brush 123. I use this as a bronzer or blusher brush as it's smaller than my Bobbi Brown brush so I only cover the area I'm aiming for without getting it everywhere! It does malt a little though which is a pain.

4. Pink With A Splash by Victoria's Secret in Sweet & Flirty. I first bought this body mist in Miami 2010 in a smaller bottle and it lasted me almost a full year! When I went back to Florida this summer I knew I had to buy another bottle. I think it was $15 and it is DEFINITELY worth the money!

5. My beloved Ted Baker iPad case. I'm a sucker for the laquer-finish Ted Baker accessories! I have a purse that's brown leather with a black pvc strip in the middle that is my one love. This case is perfect for my iPad2 as a) it stops scratches or marks ruining the aluminium when it's in my bag and b) if I need to carry it in my hands I don't look like i'm trying to show off with it! It's discreet but very aesthetically pleasing with the small lettering and the little black bow.

6 & 7. Two foundations last month! I stopped using my Diorskin foundation before summer as I was beginning to look tangoed every day. I used to get quite worried that I looked like the love child of an oompa-loompa and a wotsit so I switched to my back-up No7 Lift & Luminate. I apply these with a Mac 190 brush by either blending them on the back of my hand or putting a small blob of each on the tip of the brush.

8. Bobbi Brown face blender brush. Perfect for brushing over my face to even out the colour or blend my bronzer and blusher so they're not as full-on. It's also handy for applying my bronzer with the very edge of the brush along my cheek bone.

9. The winning product from my September Glossybox - the HD Brows palette in Vamp. I adore this and use it every day! A little goes a long way and it's very easy to over-do my eyebrows but with a magnifying mirror and a bit of patience it usually works out okay.

10. Benefit Dallas Bronzer. I LOVE this bronzer. I used to use it all the time when I was about 16/17 and I recently found a half full pot. It's now almost empty so it's one for the Christmas list!! It's got enough shimmer to give my cheeks a "glow" and doesn't look like I've rolled round in a pot of glitter!

11. Finally, my lovely hot water bottle. My boyfriend bought me this last Christmas and since moving into my second year university house I've used it almost every night. It's always cold in this house because the gas is so expensive and none of us know how to set the heating timer properly. It stays warm till around 4am which is perfect!

So, how was this for my first "things I loved" post??
I'd love any comments you have for me and I'll reply to them all.

Kisses, xo xo

Retail Therapy

After work yesterday my mum met me to for a quick shop. We were initially there so I could buy myself some new make-up brush cleaner but as soon as we walked into Debenhams and realised there was a sales event all self-restraint left the building! I left with two bottles of brush cleanser and a whole new Clarins facial cleansing set! Both are wonderful, especially with a discount!

This new range of Clarins "Daily Energiser" products came to £40.50 (normal RRP for all 3 £43.50) so although it's not a huge saving I was pleased as it's the first time I'll have tried these.

Similarly, each bottle of brush cleaner was reduced to £7.65 from £8.50 so another good saving on these products.

After doing the rounds in Debenhams we moved on to Bank where I bought the most B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L coat by Lipsy. Unfortunately I left it at my best friend's house tonight, boo! But thanks to the internet I've got a photo from Bank's website
RRP £80. Found at any Lipsy store, stockist or online.

I bought a couple of basic pieces, a plain black dress and a panelled bodycon skirt which has two gold zips on the front (sounds tacky, really isnt!)

And finally, my  Pièce de résistance;

Sadly, they're not by Jeffrey Campbell and they weren't mega bucks but I think they're beautiful! They're perfect to walk in as the platform only leaves about 2 inches of extra heel and I really, really like them. This pair were £34.99 by Miso. I know a lot of people aren't partial to the real Jeffrey Campbell Lita style but I much prefer this open-toe style as opposed to the lace-up boot.

To round of a wonderful couple of days of spending my new Ted Baker iPad case arrived! I am absolutely in love with it and it goes perfectly with my purse!

I might go to my polyvore and make an outfit based around my new clothes, shoes and accessories!
