Burt's Bees Naturally Nourishing Milk & Honey Body Lotion

"For normal to dry skin, this non-greasy, lightweight natural moisturiser goes to work the minute you apply it, and it’s scientifically proven to moisturise for up to 24 hours. Milk nourishes while honey helps to soften skin; plus, coconut and grape seed oils and vitamin E deliver beneficial nutrients to the skin. Burt's Bees' dermatologist-tested formula absorbs quickly but stays with you all day and night."

Okay, first off this. smells. awesome. Seriously, it's like a vanilla honey milkshake. The little blurb above is exactly right - it gets to work right away and isn't greasy; I could pull my leggings on and I wasn't worried about it smudging or leaving my leggings coated in lotion.
The best bit about Burt's Bees is the fact that it's made from 99% natural ingredients and although I don't recognise every single ingredient on the back of the bottle there are a lot that I do know and it's not tested on animals which is a total winner!

I've read online that the formula has changed since the product was first released but I have only just received this so I can't compare. I didn't find it greasy at all but it should be noted that it is recommended for normal to dry skin. In terms of the thickness of the cream I would say it is moderate - it's far less thick than most "body butters" that are on the market but is slightly heavier than your average cream. If your skin isn't remotely dry then you might find it greasy but personally it sank in quickly and didn't leave any unwanted residue. The scent was noticeable but not too strong.

This lotion comes in two sizes, 70g for £5.99 or 170g for £9.00* and can be found online here (click!)

Burt's Bees Replenishing Lip Balm

Burt's Bees are notorious for their range of natural cosmetics ranging from skin care to hair care. This month I've been particularly concerned with my lips. After going on holiday and getting a little burnt shortly to be followed by getting sinusitus and having to sit on an eleven hour flight, my lips needed a lot of TLC.
I grabbed this for a couple of dollars in a convenience store and it's become one of my staple products!

It contains pomegranate oil which gives it the lovely pinky red colour, but also a host of other natural ingredients including beeswax, sunflower oil and coconut oil - all there to soften and nourish your lips whilst adding a faint shine.

I found there wasn't much of a colour deposit on my lips but they were perfectly moisturised for at least two hours, if not longer before needing another application.

hello mouth.

I love Burt's Bees as a brand as every single product is natural and cruelty free, all displaying the Leaping Bunny logo.

You can grab your Burt's Bees lip balm online here and also in John Lewis amongst other retailers for an RRP of £3.69

Body Shop Bargain - The Bag Of Joy!

Now I'm back from my most recent holiday I thought it was time for a slightly longer blog post, finally!

If you're anything like me you'll be signed up to every website mailing list going. Last month I had an email from The Body Shop that enticed me with a 30% off code. As it turns out I did't need a discount code once I spied their sale items, especially this PHENOMENAL offer on their Bag Of Joy. The bag contained 9 products for just £25! Here's a little breakdown of what was in the bag..

(L-R Floral Acai Body Butter Duo, Dreams Unlimited Body Butter &Macadamia Body Butter Duo)

Each of these 200ml Body Butters retail for £12.50 EACH! If I'd bought these three separately it would have set me back £37.50. I absolutely love the Duo butters, one side of the cream has a yogurt-like consistency and the other is slightly more solid and waxy until it's been rubbed into the skin. The point of the two consistencies is so that you can apply the thicker cream on particularly dry areas such as knees and elbows and the thinner cream all over the rest of your body. The Dreams Unlimited butter is of the thinner consistency and like the other cream can be used all over your body.. perfect for being anyone who might be a little on the peely side after summer trips away!

(L-R DeoDry Dry Effect Deodorant Chilled and Breezy & Cool and Zesty and Earth Lovers Shower Gel Lemon & Thyme and Cucumber and Mint)

Each deodorant retails for £2.50 for 50ml and each shower gel for £5.00 for 250ml - that would be another £15.00. All four of these products smell so good! I can't say the deodorants are perfect.. I wore mine to the gym which was a decision I definitely regretted once I was on the cross-trainer! They are okay for day-to-day use though. The shower gels are quickly becoming one of my favourite products at the moment, not only are they made of natural ingredients but they form such a thick lather, especially with a sponge or loofah.

(L-R Dreams Unlimited Eau De Toilette and a facial Warming Mineral Mask)

The Eau De Toilette has an RRP of £15.00 for 50ml and the mask retails at £9.00 for a 100ml tube. This perfume really compliments the other Dreams Unlimited products. I wouldn't wear too much of it if I'd used the Body Butter as well but if you want to smell fresh then I really recommend it on its own.The Warming Mineral Mask is one of the products I couldn't wait to try, I love face masks that warm up! This heats up quite quickly once it's applied onto the face. I found that this mask didn't dry as cakey or thick as some other clay masks which I liked. I remove mine with a warm flannel or muslin cloth and it leaves my skin feeling nourished and moisturised.

It all came a Bag For Life worth another £2.50... If I had bought all these products individually it would have cost me £79! I'm certainly glad I bought them, even if I didn't strictly need them ;)

Unfortunately this offer isn't available anymore but there is an offer for free delivery on orders over £30 and buy 2 get 2 free on any of the products HERE with the promotional code WINNER.

So, how do you rate your Body Shop products? Let me know if there's any others I should buy :)

Lush bits and pieces...

It's been over a month since my last entry on here where I promised I'd be back blah blah blah. Clearly I lied but I am back now! I've been doing plenty of shopping and other exciting things so I've got some entries lined up here. First of the lot is my new Lush products - Love Lettuce and Therapy.

Love Lettuce is a face mask containing almond oil, lavender oil, Fullers Earth and almond shells. They all work together to sooth, tighten and exfoliate the skin and leave you, me and everybody else with smooth, fresh feeling skin. I use this once or twice weekly leaving for 15 minutes and follow it with my Liz Earle moisturiser.

Therapy is a body butter but it's solid rather than a cream - a massage bar. I really like this because once you apply a little heat or friction to it it rubs off onto the skin beautifully. It smells absolutely amazing, I think there's some lemon in there somewhere which is one of my favourite scents! It does take a little while to sink in but I'm the kind of girl who sits on her bed in her pants applying this on a Sunday night so I have plenty of drying time! I'm not sure what's in here as the label doesn't say but you can be sure it's all natural and cruelty free due to Lush's policies.

I wish I'd paid attention to how much I paid for these but I'm sure I paid less than £10 for both which is an absolute steal! I'll be going back to Lush to get another massage bar and I might try their jelly like soaps to prepare for summer ready skin.

If you have any recommendations I'd love to hear them, I'm not a fan of bath bombs but any skincare or haircare is right up my street.

Liz Earle Sheer Skin Tint - Bare 01

As I'm sure most people know Liz Earle are finally bringing out a highly anticipated (by me at least!) cosmetics range! After taking the first few steps on my cruelty free journey I've been trying my hardest to steer clear of the horrid brands so I was thrilled to hear that Liz Earle will be releasing a new range in May, although I'm fairly sure this product can be purchased online now!

After picking up the travel size skin care set I received a free sample of the new Sheer Skin Tint. I'm not going to lie - tinted moisturisers have never, ever appealed to me. I'm not sure why but I've always gone for full coverage foundations even though I don't have many problem areas on my face. I think foundation has always been a kind of security blanket for me but since I'm getting into a bit of a pickle with foundation matches I really didn't have anything to lose when trying these.

Each sample envelope contains 3 shade samples - Bare 01 for fair skin tones, Beige 02 for medium skin tones and Beach 03 for medium to dark skin tones. Being Casper the friendly ghost I discarded the two darker shades and opted for Bare 01.

"The perfect way to enhance your skin. Our rich, creamy fomula leaves skin looking naturally dewy, even and radiant. With mineral UV protection, SPF15 plus our own specially selected blend of botanicals."

As you can see from the above swatch the formula is rich and creamy but doesn't leave any heavy residue on the skin when blended. There's a slight dewy finish though it looks quite natural. I can't stand it when products claim to leave a dewy finish but it ends up looking like you've been sweating all over the place because it's so shiny! It gives an even coverage that's perfect for every day wear. I like how light it is and I feel reassured that my pores aren't going to be horribly clogged by it.

When finished with powder and blusher/bronzer I honestly couldn't tell that I wasn't wearing a foundation which I was very impressed by. It lasted a full day and didn't go patchy. All I found myself doing was a quick sweep of powder across my face about mid-afternoon. I'd recommend a concealer for under eyes or blemishes as it's not a thick formula but you could get away without it if you don't have many skin problems.

One of these small sachets has lasted 3 full applications and I'm pretty sure I'll get another one out for tomorrow so I'm very optimistic about the full size product!

How do you feel about Liz Earle releasing cosmetics? I absolutely can't wait to get my hands on this product and I don't know how I'm going to last until it's official release!!
