My Miss Selfridge Picks

17.09.11 Miss Selfridge picks....
After packing up most of my life into bags and boxes this evening, I realised I have practically no clothes that I'm interested in any more!
Since losing weight I've been investing in more dresses and this nude and black contrast dress is so pretty! I'm still not quite confident enough to wear a one-shoulder dress but if I were then this would be the dress I'd go for. Also before now I've never been one for bodysuits but I really like this leopard print so I might invest in this over the next few days. The nude skirt is just to my taste as I love bodycon skirts and I'm sick of black so hopefully I'll grab this while I internet shop this week, though personally I'd team it with black tights so there's not too much skin on show!
The two tops are caught my eye for lazy days at home or visits to the uni library. The heart t-shirt is very Wildfox-esque, so hard to resist!

What are your favourite picks from stores this week?

10 years on

I was only 10 when the tragedy of 9/11 happened. I was actually oblivious to what it all meant, I just knew that a lot of people had lost their lives and loved ones.

Every year we see footage of the crashes and hear recollections from people who were in the wreckages and it has always been tragic, but as I've grown older, seen more of the world and lost loved ones myself I am much more aware of what happened ten years ago, even though comprehending why it happened will never be easy.

What I want to say in this post is that we should cherish the moments we have with the people we love, and keep in our thoughts those who have lost people close to their hearts on this day or any other day.
I can't imagine a world without my brother, my parents, my best friend or my boyfriend and as much as they might drive me mad, leave the toilet seat up, burn my toast and eat all the maltesers... I couldn't live without them.

I hope you've all had a happy Sunday and you were affected by 9/11 you are staying strong

Big love, xo xo

TGIF!

Absolutely loving that it's Friday night. As it's coming up to the last of my days at home before returning to uni I'm really living the dream by drinking tea and watching Big Brother! T is at work tonight so I'm watching it now rather than boring him in the morning.

Next week is looking like a lot of packing and as much time as possible with my family and T but I've made a few (okay, fine A LOT) of purchases this week so I'll be posting about a dress that should turn up on Monday, as well as how good my new Clarins products

I did a little bit of baking today. I found a recipe for cupcakes which I hadn't used before and I just substituted sugar for Splenda so I could make them lower in calorie content. This worked well until it came to the melted Milkybar, but with a little will-power it was all alright in the end!
Here's a photo from my instagram earlier today...

ps, these were my cakes!

y-u-m thank you very much, even if they do look a little strange.

I can't wait to get back to uni life and get some proper cooking done.. being home has done nothing positive for my weight at all over summer!

Retail Therapy

After work yesterday my mum met me to for a quick shop. We were initially there so I could buy myself some new make-up brush cleaner but as soon as we walked into Debenhams and realised there was a sales event all self-restraint left the building! I left with two bottles of brush cleanser and a whole new Clarins facial cleansing set! Both are wonderful, especially with a discount!

This new range of Clarins "Daily Energiser" products came to £40.50 (normal RRP for all 3 £43.50) so although it's not a huge saving I was pleased as it's the first time I'll have tried these.

Similarly, each bottle of brush cleaner was reduced to £7.65 from £8.50 so another good saving on these products.

After doing the rounds in Debenhams we moved on to Bank where I bought the most B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L coat by Lipsy. Unfortunately I left it at my best friend's house tonight, boo! But thanks to the internet I've got a photo from Bank's website
RRP £80. Found at any Lipsy store, stockist or online.

I bought a couple of basic pieces, a plain black dress and a panelled bodycon skirt which has two gold zips on the front (sounds tacky, really isnt!)

And finally, my  Pièce de résistance;

Sadly, they're not by Jeffrey Campbell and they weren't mega bucks but I think they're beautiful! They're perfect to walk in as the platform only leaves about 2 inches of extra heel and I really, really like them. This pair were £34.99 by Miso. I know a lot of people aren't partial to the real Jeffrey Campbell Lita style but I much prefer this open-toe style as opposed to the lace-up boot.

To round of a wonderful couple of days of spending my new Ted Baker iPad case arrived! I am absolutely in love with it and it goes perfectly with my purse!

I might go to my polyvore and make an outfit based around my new clothes, shoes and accessories!

September is definitely here!

I don't know what the weather has been like in other parts of the country, but where I am it's been horrible!
I went out for a walk with my mum this morning and we were rained on a little, and then the minute we stepped back into the house it started pouring it down. We also went to a barbecue at my brother's school this afternoon. He's climbing to Base Camp on Everest next year and this weekend they did a 30 mile walk in 2 days to begin some more serious training. I took the barbecue as an opportunity to do my first ever outfit photo... I'll leave it to you to decide if it was worth it!

Blazer: River Island
Vests: Marks & Spencer
Jeans: H&M

I refused to let the weather deter me from wearing my favourite pink blazer! I paired it with two layered vest tops and an incredibly old pair of skinny jeans.. I aimed for casual but I still wanted to look a little smarter than day-to-day. I've had the jeans since I was 15 and I can fit into them again so I'm taking all the opportunities I can to wear them.

Nails: Models Own "Lilac Dream"
Jewellery: Links Of London, Hui San Designs, antique family ring, Tiffany & Co. and Love Hearts and Crosses

I hope this has been a successful outfit post, please let me know what you think in the comments section!

P.S. If you have a few spare minutes could you check out my friend's jewellery business Hui San Designs. They make lovely little beaded bracelets and watches as well as necklaces!

Boux Avenue

After reading reviews from other girls about the lingerie company Boux Avenue I decided to try it myself. This evening I bought one bra to try it for size and to see the quality of their products to be sure I won't be wasting my money. I have no doubt that this company provide excellent products so I'm not worried about that, I am just one of the larger busted girls in the world so buying underwear is somewhat of a large event in my life!
I should get my order in the next 5 days so I'll definitely put a review up here :)

New Zara Bag!

On a night when the men of my house have taken over the TV for the England match and my boyfriend is at work.... what better to do than blog about my new, fantastic, beautiful bag from Zara!
I am 100% in love with it and I want everyone to know!

Purse: Ted Baker £69 (link)
Bag: Zara £29.99 (link)

I took this photo earlier in the week when I was thinking of doing a "What's In My Bag" post but I realised after I'd taken it that I only had my purse and my car keys in there after work!

I bought the bag last week for £29.99 and I've used it every day since. I love the cream and brown together and the little gold studs and clasps on the handles really compliment it. It's a size "medium" but I'd say it's smaller than most of my other bags. Saying that, I took it to Ikea with me yesterday and came home having managed to fit in an alarm clock in as well as the rest of my day-to-day items (phone, purse, keys, sunglasses and make-up bag) so it's by no means small.
It also has a shoulder strap as well as the top handles so you can wear it either way depending on your preference. The base is the same brown leather-esque material as the handles so you don't have to worry about getting dirty marks on the bottom when you put it down.

I've had compliments on it since I bought it and I always say where I bought it from incase they're after it.
It comes with either brown detailing or black/charcoal detailing. My decision was based on what it would look best with in my wardrobe!

Are there any bags you think are a must have this Autumn??
