Essence seems to be the newest affordable beauty range to hit the UK. Widely available across the UK in Wilko these products deliver on coverage and quality from around £2 upwards. I was sent these products the other week and here's what I think....
I was sent a few bits and pieces to try and so far I've been impressed by all of them. This Anti-Spot Moisturizing Foundation has medium coverage and didn't aggravate my skin at all. It does have quite a medicinal scent but it is aimed at clearing up spots as well as covering them. The colour match is possibly one shade too dark but aside from that I really like it!
The eye products are all GLORIOUS! The mascara is absolutely the best for a make-up newbie's starter kit. The brush is thin but covers all the lashes and didn't budge once applied. Removal was easy with my Bioderma on a cotton pad. The Metal Glam eyeshadow is so pigmented - the shimmer isn't as obvious as it looks once it's applied. It's a very dark grey-black shade that's great for a smokey eye flick. The eyeliner is on par with most other pencil eyeliners I have used - it's soft, thick and very, very black.
As a brand I really like Essence - it's affordable and you're not skimping on quality. This is the kind of make-up I'd recommend to any girl who needs to stock up on their essentials or a teenager just starting up. I will definitely be using these for my go-to items, especially in the warmer months when a full face is just too much!
