The Holiday Series : Disney World 2014

Yesterday morning I landed back at Gatwick after a week in Disney, Florida. It was absolutely the best time ever with lots of snacks, sweets and diet coke.
Here are a few photos from the week...

Magical! Cinderella's Castle

Ice cream sandwiches in chocolate chip cookies

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs house. So cuuuute!

My fave kitten, Marie!

I am already sad about being back in the UK :( The post-Disney blues don't take long to kick in!
I'll resume some beauty related reviews at the weekend but for now, my Disney photos will sit on my blog for a couple of days :)

The Holiday Series : Where am I....?

This week has been absolutely magical - I've been away since Wednesday spending a few nights in New York. We've crammed so much in to the days (and our stomachs!) and seen the Empire State Building, Times Square, Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, High Line....

This was the view from the 86th floor on the observation deck all the way up the Empire State Building. It's hard to differentiate between the buildings in that photo but i could see how clearly mapped out the whole city was from up there.

This was a quick snap from the High Line walk - I loved being able to see down the streets and all the buildings in the distance. Yesterday was our best day weather wise and we even saw a mama raccoon and two babies climbing up a tree in Central Park!

I'll do a bit more of an in depth post when I get back home but I'm currently awaiting my flight to Orlando for a week in Disney World! I am about to burst with excitement to go back to the most magical place on Earth. Keep up with me on twitter and instagram using the links below! <3

Trou Aux Biches Resort & Spa Mauritius

My Holiday Series that begun just over a week ago was supposed to lead up to my going away, however not all things like that go quite the way they should. I'm a couple of posts behind but worry not - they will appear!

So, here's where I was heading off to - a tiny island not far East of South Africa called Mauritius. 12 hours on a plane from London Heathrow ain't no joke but I promise, a flight that ends in Trou Aux Biches is worthwhile!

Just over an hour from the main airport Trou Aux Biches Resort and Spa is located near Triolet in the North West of the island. March/April/May is sort of the "Autumn" season over there (but really it's like a better than good British Summer!).

This holiday has been booked for about 8 months and we were all so looking forward to getting out of the UK and away from any negativity into bright sunshine; we were not disappointed. The temperatures were anywhere from 22-30 degrees all week and we were practically waited on hand and foot for the duration of our stay.

The Trou Aux Biches Resort and Spa was re-opened a couple of years ago after a big refurb - the golf course was gone and villas appeared. The villas are pretty massive and can sleep up to 7 people but since there were only three of us we chose a Beach Front Suite with a pool.

We were greeted upon our arrival by a citronella iced drink and a fruit platter whilst we checked in. Our suite wasn't quite ready so we had access to a transit room to freshen up. There were three transit rooms I think and they were there to give travellers somewhere to sit, nap, shower etc after long flights.

Once the suites were available we headed to our rooms; my brother and I were in one together and my mum had one to herself. We could lay out on the deck and we could see the beach - sand and sea - from our door. It really was beautiful. Click here for a link to an Instagram video to see it up close.

We had an en-suite complete with two showers - one indoors and one secluded outdoor shower. The rooms had telephones, tvs, complimentary WiFi which worked very well for a resort wide network, multi-use charging station and a tea and coffee facilities above the mini-bar. The multi-use charging station was brilliant; you could practically charge any device so if you forgot a charger for your iPhone/iPod/Android etc it wasn't the end of the world!

I didn't use the outdoor shower except to rinse off quickly but it is completely hidden from view of the other suites - you could do your own naked rain dance and not a single soul would know!

Throughout the week we indulged in some gorgeous cocktails at the two bars at the resort. We took a liking to a particular Sauvignon Blanc so soz Mauritius but we might've wiped out your supply!

There are six on site restaurants; Le Deck, La Caravelle, L'Oasis, Blue Ginger, Mahiya and Il Corallo. We ate at all of them except Il Corallo; there was no real reason for this aside from making dinner reservations and aiming to return to our favourite one for our final meal. All of the food was divine though the meals at the Blue Ginger and Mahiya were our favourites. Blue Ginger is Thai food and serves up a "discovery menu" - this is a set menu and it means you can try lots of smaller dishes (and ask for extra if you enjoy them so much they all go!). Mahiya is the same but Indian and where we ate together on our last night. The service was impeccable and we were completely looked after during every single meal.

The beach had a wide range of free water activities including pedalos and kayaks. The kayaking was so relaxing as the sea was calm and a crisp bluey/turquoise to the horizon.

There's also a Clarins spa on site - boasting 20 private cabins for treatments and a beauty parlour you don't even have to paint your own nails while you're away; someone's on hand to do that too!
I don't have many photos of that as I was pretty pre-occupied but my therapist Deborah was so friendly and really took a lot of time and attention throughout my pedicure.

I can't recommend the Trou Aux Biches Resort and Spa enough - there is everything you might need for a holiday, honeymoon or even for your wedding. They cater for every occasion so even if you don't stay here I believe it's certainly worth checking out the Beachcomber Hotels locations as I can't fault their service at all.

Myself and my family had the most relaxing and refreshing stay at the Trou Aux Biches Resort and Spa and we absolutely can't wait to return. After staying with Beachcomber once I have every faith that our next stay would be glorious wherever we went (and you can bet your hat I'd post about the luxury of it all here, too!).

P.S. Beachcomber, you're right....a dream is a serious thing!

My 2013 Aeroplane Necessities

As I'm typing this I'm impatiently tapping my feet waiting to leave for the airport hotel later this evening but hopefully as you're reading this I'll have landed back home in the UK after a week in the best place in the whole world : DISNEY WORLD! In order to get to Florida I have to go on a plane which lead me to think of last year's aeroplane favourites which you can read here (click!). However a lot can change in a year so I've updated it with my favourites from the last few months.

So, these are pretty self-explanatory (but a blog post needs a few accompanying words anyway!) ; hairbrush, hair bands and bobby pins are all to keep my hair off my face for the flight. I think I'll be opting for the messy bun because it's the quickest to fix if it needs re-doing. Toothbrush and gum are to make sure I don't have a mouth like Ghandi's flip-flop as my friend Aimee would say. I have a travel sized tube of toothpaste somewhere too! Lipbalm, moisturiser and body lotion are all to keep my skin hydrated. I'll use the body moisturiser on my hands for an intensive treatment rather than to moisturise my legs, I'm not sure how the rest of the cabin would feel if I dropped trou and asked for a leg rub!! Deodorant is pretty obvious.. no-one likes a smelly passenger.

Here are some very blurry individual photos with the details :

Superdrug Soft Touch Hair Grips (I can't find these exact hair grips but there's a similar product here) and Metal Free Hair Bands (and here), Denman D3 Strawberry Shortcake hairbrush (exact here), novelty Hello Kitty nail file.

Dermalogica Active Moist moisturiser (here), Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Intensive Body Moisturiser (here) & Dove Maximum Protection deodorant (here).

The only one I've missed out is the Nivea Lip Butter but there's a full review here (click!) and you can buy it here (click!)

This year I won't be taking any make-up on the plane with me. Sorry Virgin Atlantic, I've got my ugly face on for the next 9 hours!

It's a bit late for me to pack your favourites but tell me what they are in the comments!

Las Vegas 2012

On the 22nd August I jetted off to Las Vegas with my boyfriend and his family. We stayed for 6 nights at the Bellagio hotel and it was absolutely incredible.

the comfiest bed for jet lag | making good use of the bath robes after my shower | just organising the vanity like I owned the place

I've been to a few pretty cities but Vegas topped them all for its size and all the opportunities provided by the different hotels, restaurants and shopping centres. You could go to the New York New York hotel and get a typical New York coffee and donut for breakfast before riding their rollercoaster, walk to the Luxor and view the Titanic exhibition or head to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and wander through Dior, Dunhill, Sephora and of course, Abercrombie & Fitch.

Here are a small collage of the 500 photos that I took incase anyone is interested.

Philosophy bubble baths - black cherry soda & sweet 16 | Grand Canyon, yeah!  | last breakfast - buttermilk pancakes

For the first few days we wandered round Vegas doing a lot of shopping, eating and walking. It was roughly 40degrees every day but far less humid than other American cities. We also saw 3 shows, The Beatles Love at the Mirage, "O" at the Bellagio and on the last night my boyfriend and I went to see Peepshow starring Holly Madison - lucky boyfriend!!
I actually loved every second of the Peepshow, and although I wouldn't say Holly Madison is a born actress or singer she was entertaining and she is absolutely beautiful in real life. I think I love her a little bit (/ a lot!!). Our seats were so close to the stage you could see every inch of the dancers - again, lucky boyfriend! - but I did notice that Holly had a little pouch on her stomach where she's usually very much in shape, the next day I bought Us Weekly because it turns out she's pregnant! Wahoooooo, celebrity babies are my fave!

The last two days were spent driving to the Grand Canyon and back with the last night of our trip spent at the Wynn hotel - it's roughly 5 hours from Las Vegas to the South Rim where we stayed at the Grand Hotel. Compared to the Bellagio it wasn't particularly Grand but it did provide everything we needed for a good night's sleep after travelling and before exploring the canyon. We saw both the sunrise and the sunset and it was breathtaking! I have about 50 photos of each, oops!!

sunset at the Grand Canyon | colourful rays over the horizon | sunrise! makes me think of the Lion King

Anyway, here's my little Las Vegas post. There's so much to write about but I might save them for any product reviews that are in the pipeline from my many shopping sprees!

Have you been to Vegas? Let me know!

Love,

Summer Holidays 2011

Since I'm back in gloomy England I thought I'd relive my travels by posting some photos from my trip to Florida.

At the beginning of July I jetted off to Disney World with my boyfriend and his family. We went for just under two weeks and I had an absolutely incredible time! We met all the characters we could find including 3 of the princesses! Here are some of my favourite photos from the trip
Cinderella's Castle!

We went out to dinner at The Peabody hotel one night and this is the dress I wore. I've got my Coach clutch bag as well but you can't see it very clearly (just as well as it was brown so didn't match my dress!)

Lots of shopping happened but I was very pleased with these 3 items! I love how America has better sizing than England, so for once I found jeans that fitted at the waist and on the legs!

The jeans in this photo are the same ones pictured above.
2 of my birthday presents! I couldn't help but spend a little two much on these two items, my new Ted Baker purse and a Tiffany & Co. ring!
Hogwarts castle at Universal Studios. I had one of the best days here and the ride in the castle is my favourite. It's terrifying and brilliant at the same time!

Welcome to my home!

And finally, July 4th fireworks over Cinderella's Castle. It was absolutely magical!
